Women in the workplace

McKinsey & Company and LeanIn.org recently published their 10th anniversary report on Women in the Workplace

While women have made progress in some areas, there is still much work to do to create a workplace experience that is inclusive and equitable for everyone.

· Women’s representation in the C-suite has increased to 29%, up from 17% in 2015

· While there have been gains at every level, progress is slower at the entry and manager levels

· Women of colour remain significantly underrepresented and face unique barriers

· Despite progress, the gains are fragile, especially for women of color, and many women report that their day-to-day experiences have not improved significantly

· There is a concerning decline in company commitment to diversity, which threatens future progress

· Women continue to be ambitious and committed to their careers, but need more support from their organisations to advance

It will take nearly 50 years to achieve gender parity for all women. Companies must maintain their commitment to diversity and implement systemic changes to support women’s advancement at all levels.

What steps are your organisation taking to better support women in the workplace?
